Baghdad (NINA) - The Hamas movement said that what is being reported from the American administration regarding the truce proposal in the Gaza Strip falls within the framework of pressure on the movement, stressing that there is nothing truly new so far in the negotiations to stop the aggression against the Strip.
The leader of the movement, Osama Hamdan, said in a press conference held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, last night: “We follow with regret the position of the American administration, which insists with great blame on holding Hamas responsible for not reaching an agreement.”
He added: "There is nothing really new in the negotiations to stop the aggression against the Gaza Strip, and what is being reported from the American administration comes in the context of exerting various pressures on the movement until it agrees to the Israeli paper as it is without modification, and an attempt to beautify the administration's ugly image."
The American website "Axios" had quoted informed sources that the American administration had presented, in recent days, a new formulation of Article 8 of the proposed ceasefire agreement. This part of the agreement, according to the site, relates to the negotiations that are supposed to begin between Israel and Hamas during the implementation of the “first phase” of the deal, to determine the precise conditions for the second phase of it, which includes reaching “sustainable stability and calm” in Gaza.
Hamdan stressed that the movement is ready to deal positively with any formula that essentially guarantees a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal from Gaza, and a real prisoner exchange deal.
He pointed out that the last proposal regarding the exchange deal was submitted to us on the 24th of this month, and there is nothing new after that.”
Hamdan stressed that “the occupation is closing all crossings in the Gaza Strip, and cases of death from starvation have become a reality, not a metaphor,” warning that the situation in the Strip, especially the Gaza and North governorates, has become tragic and threatens the death of thousands from starvation.
He said: "The occupation imposes a complete military siege on the residents of Gaza in the form of collective punishment, and also imposes punitive measures to obstruct the delivery of aid to our people in Gaza."
He considered that "the catastrophic situation that the people of Gaza are experiencing represents a real failure of all the values that Western countries have always praised."
Hamdan held the American administration directly responsible legally, politically, and humanitarianly for the tragic conditions of the Palestinians, stressing that the floating port that the American administration established on the coast of Gaza “was nothing but a show.”/End
