Yildiz said, in a speech he delivered at dawn today during a session of the UN Security Council, which discussed the report of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, on "Children and Armed Conflict," that: "The violations committed during the conflict in Gaza and the nature of the injustice there are unprecedented, and I fear that due to the situation on the ground, the numbers of violations may be much higher than what the report mentioned."
He explained that the report, published on June 13, reveals worrying trends in the situation of children in armed conflict, with a 21 percent increase in grave violations against children worldwide, noting a 155 percent increase in “grave violations” in conflicts on the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel. /End
