The Turkish President is accompanied on his visit to Kazakhstan by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Alp Arslan Bayraktar, Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek, Trade Omar Bolat, Senior Presidential Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs Akif Cagatay Kilic, and Deputy Head of the Presidential Communications Department Chagatay Ozdemir.
Erdogan is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, which will be held in Astana later today, and its meetings will continue until tomorrow, Thursday, as scheduled in the summit list.
“Shanghai Cooperation” is an international Eurasian political, economic and security organization, founded in 2001 in the Chinese city of Shanghai by the leaders of six Asian countries. They are: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
In 2017, India and Pakistan joined its membership, while 4 countries have observer status: Afghanistan, Belarus, Mongolia and Iran, before the latter officially obtains full membership in July 2023.
The organization also includes 14 countries as “dialogue partners”: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka./End
