The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in a statement today, Friday, that units of the Turkish army stationed in the areas of Hakuk, Kara, Qandil and Sinjar in northern Iraq detected gatherings of militants of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in rugged mountainous areas, which required the use of warplanes. Their raids on those areas resulted in the killing of 30 of them as a preliminary result and the withdrawal of the others.
The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in its statement that Turkish warplanes launched a series of airstrikes yesterday, Thursday, and today, Friday, during which they destroyed 34 sites of the PKK in northern Iraq in response to the attack that targeted the Turkish Aerospace Industries Company "TUSAŞ" in the capital Ankara last Wednesday.
In its statement, it indicated that the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has its stronghold in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq, and is active in many cities, regions and valleys, launching attacks on the Turkish interior from there, and that the Turkish army is working hard to dry up the sources of terrorism. /End
