The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in two separate statements issued today that Turkish fighter aircraft launched a series of air strikes on the positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in the area of the Claw-Lock operations in northern Iraq. These air strikes resulted in the killing of 19 militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
These air strikes came in response to the attack launched by groups of PKK militants on a Turkish army unit stationed in northern Iraq at the beginning of last week, which resulted in the killing of nine Turkish soldiers and the wounding of 8 others.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish army had carried out a large military operation on April 18, 2021, and it is still continuing, called Lock of Claw, against the strongholds of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in the areas of Matina, Al-Zab, Afshin, and Bazian in northern Iraq./End
