Baghdad / NINA / - The US State Department has updated its travel advisory for Iraq to reflect the department's decision to order the departure of non-essential US government personnel from Iraq due to security concerns. The travel advisory for Iraq remains at Level 4 – Do Not Travel.

The State Department said in a statement: “US citizens are advised against all travel to Iraq for any reason. US citizens currently in Iraq are strongly encouraged to depart as soon as it is safe to do so and to shelter in place until conditions are safe to depart.”

It explained that Iraqi officials may close and reopen airspace at any time with short notice. Please contact your airline for the latest flight information.
