Baghdad / NINA /- The Iraqi national football team has maintained its 58th position in the FIFA monthly world ranking for September, with 1,422.2 points.
According to the Iraqi Football Association, Iraq ranks seventh in Asia after Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Qatar, and Uzbekistan, surpassing Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Indonesia.
The team boosted its ranking by winning the King’s Cup in Thailand earlier this month, with victories over Hong Kong and Thailand, as the matches were played on FIFA international match days.
Iraq is now preparing for the Asian World Cup 2026 playoff qualifiers, facing Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in October in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. /End
