Government sources confirmed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has been closely following the investigation since the incident occurred on August 4, in coordination with the judiciary and the Ministry of Interior, stressing the need to keep the probe away from political exploitation.
The doctor’s death has sparked shock and grief among colleagues in the medical community and the wider public, especially given the unclear circumstances. While preliminary security sources suggested the incident might have been a suicide, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari dispatched a special investigative committee from Baghdad to Basra to oversee the case and ensure the integrity of the process, in full coordination with the Iraqi judiciary.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution Office has received a formal parliamentary request to form a panel of forensic experts to re-examine the body of the young doctor, regarded as one of the most prominent figures in her field in Basra./ End
