Baghdad / NINA /- The Ministry of Oil signed, today, Wednesday, with initials 13 contracts with the winning companies to develop fields and exploration patches within the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds.

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdul-Ghani stressed the ministry's keenness and serious efforts to maximize oil production, as well as optimal investment of gas through the development of oil and gas fields and exploration patches.

Abdul-Ghani said, during the signing ceremony with the winning companies in the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds that took place during the first half of this year, that "these contracts will add large quantities of oil production estimated at 750 thousand barrels per day, in addition to investing 850 cubic meters per day of gas." He added, "These quantities and production and investment capacities of gas aim to achieve flexibility in equipping power generation stations with gas fuel, in addition to supporting the energy sector in Iraq."

He explained that "the ministry signed with the winning companies the initials of contracts for developing oil fields and exploration blocks, where the contract for Al-Faw exploration block, Jabal Sanam exploration block, Sumer exploration block, Abu Khaima exploration block, Dima field, Allan and Sasan exploration block, Al-Khulaisiya exploration block, Al-Qarnain exploration block, Zurbatiya exploration block, the (7) exploration block, Al-Dhafriya exploration block, the East Baghdad field, and the Middle Euphrates fields were signed. In addition, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Basem Muhammad Khadir, said that "the contracts signed today will be sent to the Ministerial Council for Energy to obtain approvals for the purpose of conducting the final signing of the contracts in order to begin implementing the development operations," noting that "these projects will improve the economic reality of the country and provide the quantities of gas required for self-sufficiency."

The fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds, which lasted for three days, recorded the results of the first day at that time: "The Chinese company ZEPC won the contracts to develop the East Baghdad field and the Middle Euphrates fields, while the Iraqi company KAR won the contracts to develop Dima field in Maysan and Allan and Sasan fields in Nineveh Governorate, and the Chinese company UEG won the contract to develop the Faw block in Basra, and the Chinese company "Zhenhue" won the contract to develop Al-Qarnain block in the governorates of Najaf and Anbar, and the company "GEO-JADE" won the development of the Zurbatiya block in Wasit Governorate. On the second day, the Chinese company Sinopec won the development of the "Sumer" exploration block in Muthanna Governorate, and the exploration block (7) that extends across the governorates of "Diwaniyah, Najaf, Babylon, Wasit and Muthanna" was developed by the Chinese company CNOOC, and the Chinese company Anton Oil won the development of Dhafra field in the governorate of Wasit, and the Chinese company "Zhenhua" won the development of "Abu Khaima" block in Muthanna Governorate near the Iraqi-Saudi border. The Geo-Jade company won the development of "Jabal Sanam" exploration block in Basra Governorate on the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border.

On the third day, the Iraqi company KAR won the investment in Al-Khulaisiyah block, which extends within the Nineveh and Anbar governorates on the Iraqi-Syrian border. /End
