"We have taken a delegation of senior executives, including ministers and governors, to develop strategic relations with China," Mahdi said in a statement.
Abdul Mahdi added "in our visit today, we seek to form a strategic partnership that enables Iraq to rise and build its economy and rehabilitation of its infrastructure.
"Our relationship with the West has evolved and we want to preserve it. Today we also seek to deepen our relations with the East and the Asian countries," Abdul Mahdi said in a statement.
He continued, "Iraq was one of the first countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative and we are trying to connect the Near East to the Middle East."/ End
