Istanbul (NINA) - The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of six militants of the "PKK" organization in two security operations, one of them using combat aircraft, as part of the Turkish army's ongoing operations called "Claw Lock" in northern Iraq.
The Turkish Defense stated in two separate statements today, Sunday, that the Turkish army used warplanes to strike PKK positions in the Gara region, killing two PKK militants, while four other militants were killed in the second operation during a clash with a group of PKK militants in an area of operations Claw Lock northern Iraq.
The Turkish defense statement indicated that the recent Turkish army operations in northern Iraq came in retaliation for the killing of a Turkish army officer yesterday, First Lieutenant Sarkan Arkosh, in clashes with Kurdish militants in the region. /End
