Al-Jabri said during the meeting that "Iraq's standing by Lebanon is a fixed national and humanitarian position that reflects the deep historical relations between the two countries."
According to a statement by the Ministry of Trade, "Al-Jabri reviewed the assistance provided by Iraq to Lebanon at various stages, especially during the Israeli aggression, noting that Iraq sent thousands of tons of food and medical supplies, and hosted more than 57 thousand Lebanese, 6 thousand of whom are still residing in Iraq to this day."
Al-Jabri revealed "an initiative under implementation to deliver 320 thousand tons of wheat to Lebanon by land, once the situation in Syria stabilizes."
He explained that "the Iraqi delegation currently visiting Lebanon is working to provide relief and food aid, in addition to preparing a report on Lebanon's needs in the reconstruction sectors, especially in the fields of health and education, to present it to the Iraqi government and take appropriate decisions to support Lebanon." Al-Jaberi continued: "Iraq's position towards Lebanon stems from common national and humanitarian values, and we are committed to continuing this support to enhance the steadfastness of the Lebanese people and alleviate their suffering." / End
