In statements to the Syrian News Agency "SANA", the official of the Military Operations Department in Daraa said: "Violent clashes took place between several parties in the city of Al-Sanamayn in the Daraa countryside, as a result of which our forces were mobilized and headed to the site of the clash."
He added: "After the intervention of our forces, it was agreed to resolve the clashes immediately between all parties, and we took over all government places and provided protection for public facilities, in addition to withdrawing heavy and medium weapons from local groups."
The official continued: "It was also agreed to deploy our forces and the General Security Administration and set up checkpoints in the area, and we explained that the parties can file personal lawsuits to the court and everyone can resort to the judiciary."
"Syria TV" had indicated that the Military Operations Administration had sent military reinforcements to the northern countryside of Daraa, to implement a possible security campaign against elements of the remnants of the Assad regime, against the backdrop of clashes witnessed in the area.
According to the same source, the city of Al-Sanamayn in the northern countryside of Daraa witnessed violent clashes yesterday evening, Saturday, between elements of the Southern Operations Room affiliated with the new Syrian administration, and a group that was working for the Military Security Branch of the Assad regime, led by the so-called "Mohsen Al-Haimed."
Meanwhile, the local "Ahrar Houran Gathering" news network reported that a convoy of the Military Operations Administration "consisting of about two thousand fighters" arrived this morning, Sunday, in the city of Al-Sanamayn, north of Daraa, to begin a negotiation process with an armed group led by "Al-Haimed."
This coincided with the issuance of a statement by the "Sanamayn Revolutionaries" in which they demanded "holding accountable the criminal gang that defiled the land of Al-Sanamayn, and shed our blood in murder and corruption."
The statement added: "The entire world has witnessed, with conclusive evidence, how they shed the blood of children and women, and violated the sanctity of safe homes, without restraint or deterrence."
The statement called on the members of the attacking group to surrender themselves "to justice and just retribution, or we will uproot them from their roots, and clear our land of their filth completely."
The local network indicated that the clashes in Al-Sanamayn began after an attack launched by "Al-Hamid" group, linked to the military security of the former regime, against a local faction opposed to the Assad regime stationed in the northern neighborhood of the city, which was led by "Walid Al-Zahra" (Abu Khaled) before he was killed in clashes against the former regime in March 2020.
It was noted that the "Al-Hamid" elements used light and medium weapons in the attack, including anti-aircraft weapons, which resulted in the death of a young civilian by a stray bullet.
A state of tension and panic prevailed, amid appeals to residents not to move within the city's neighborhoods./End
