In a statement published by the IRNA news agency, the Public Relations office of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated: "Two oil tankers—one located east of the Strait of Hormuz and the other inside the Strait—struck mines and came to a halt in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz after attempting to transit via an unauthorized route."
The statement continued: "The two oil tankers had deactivated all of their navigation and identification systems and attempted to exit the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorized route, with support from the U.S. military.
