In cooperation with Iraq, the UAE busts an international drug-smuggling network
The UAE Ministry of Interior stated that the seized items also included over 30 kilograms of cocaine, crystal meth, marijuana, hashish, and "Spice" (synthetic cannabinoids). The network had attempted to bring these substances in through a border area in Ras Al Khaimah, with the intent of distributing them within the country, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The Ministry explained that the operation resulted in the apprehension of an international criminal network comprising 20 suspects of various nationalities, following an exchange of intelligence between the relevant authorities in the UAE and Iraq.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the General Headquarters of Ras Al Khaimah Police and the General Directorate for Narcotics Control at the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, with judicial coordination provided by the Federal Public Prosecution. /End
