With a Document: Central Bank of Iraq decides to adjust the dollar exchange rate, setting the public sale price at 1,520 dinars
A letter from the Central Bank, addressed to all licensed banks, licensed electronic payment companies, and exchange bureaus, stated the following:
With reference to the Council of Ministers' decision made during its twenty-second session on October 6, 2026—which entails adjusting the Iraqi dinar exchange rate against the US dollar to meet relevant financial, economic, and monetary requirements—and pursuant to the provisions of the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004 (as amended), it has been decided to adopt the following exchange rates:
1. Purchase price of the US dollar from the Ministry of Finance: (1,500) dinars per dollar.
2. Sale price of the US dollar to banks: (1,510) dinars per dollar.
3. Sale price of the US dollar to the public: (1,520) dinars per dollar.
It added that, in light of this, all your institutions must adopt the aforementioned rates in their transactions, take the necessary measures to update banking and financial systems as well as relevant service delivery channels, and instruct branches and competent units to operate accordingly.
Furthermore, the previous rate must be discontinued, and the new rate adopted effective from the start of the business day on October 7, 2026. / End
