A heat wave in Thailand causes the death of 61 people

Baghdad/NINA/- The Ministry of Health in Thailand confirmed today, Friday, that a record heat wave, accompanied by a clear rise in temperatures to more than 52 degrees, has so far claimed the lives of 61 people in the country.

The Authorities in Thailand explained that the number of deaths is more than twice the number recorded for sunstroke for the entire year of 2023, noting that most of the deaths occurred in the northeast, calling on citizens to limit their presence in the open air.

In recent weeks, the heat wave has seen nighttime temperatures remain around 30 degrees in Bangkok and many other parts of the country.

Midday temperatures - a measure that includes humidity and wind speed - along with air temperature, were regularly above 50 degrees./End
