Baghdad / NINA /- The National Investment Commission (NIC) has revealed the status of Baghdad Metro Project—for which a contract was officially signed in 2011—noting that the government intends to present this key strategic project as part of a new package of investment opportunities.

Salar Mohammed Amin, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, stated to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that "Baghdad Metro Project is one of the most significant strategic initiatives for the National Investment Commission. We are actively working toward its implementation in coordination with Baghdad Governorate and Baghdad Municipality."

He added, "We have begun preparing a new study for the project. The plans will be updated to align with the latest international technical and engineering standards and specifications, in preparation for its announcement as a new investment opportunity in the near future."

He further explained that "Baghdad Metro Project will cover 80% of the road network in the capital and is designed to allow for future expansion. It will incorporate both ground-level and elevated tracks, depending on the nature of the areas and suburbs through which it passes."/ End
