Through Al-Zaidi’s direct efforts... Iraqi Airways resumes flights between Najaf and Iranian airports
Baghdad/NINA/ – Iraqi Airways resumed flights today, Monday, between Najaf and Iranian airports following diligent efforts by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.
Earlier today, the Iraqi Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Yasser Abdul-Zahra Al-Hajjaj, confirmed that Najaf Airport would open its doors to Iranian flights.
Abdul-Zahra told the official News Agency: "The Iraqi government, led by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, is making continuous efforts to resume flights between the two neighboring countries, Iraq and Iran."
He added that "the government issued no decision to halt flights with Iran; rather, foreign ground-handling companies refrained from providing their services due to fears of US sanctions."/ End
