A statement by the Joint Operations Command stated that a force from the Third Regiment, the Sixth Brigade, of the Sixth District Borders Command, responded, last night, to an infiltration attempt by a terrorist group for the purpose of crossing from the Syrian side towards Iraqi territory in the Dukji border area west of Mount Sinjar.
It added that at the same time, our heroic forces clashed with another terrorist group from inside Iraqi lands in Sinjar Mountain after they opened fire towards the same regiment and the clash continued for half an hour during which the infiltration process was stopped and the terrorist group fled towards Syrian lands, while another force in one of the border sectors pursuing the elements on Mount Sinjar and treating them with various weapons. These terrorist elements fled, as the accident led to the death of one of the members of the third regiment, the sixth brigade.
It explained: While we are urging the heroes of the Border Guard Police Command to take their measures to prevent infiltration and smuggling in this sector and the remaining sectors, the Joint Operations Command has directed the West Nineveh Operations Command to provide support and assistance to all border posts along the borders with the provision of air support for all units in good time by the Air Force, and Army Aviation./ End
