The representative of the organization in Iraq, Adham Ismail, said in a press statement that there is a second wave of Covid 19 sweeping the countries of the world because there is no medicine or vaccine for this disease and the waves may continue until an effective vaccine is found, noting that "the second wave of the pandemic started in a number of neighboring countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Turkey. "
Ismail added, "some Iraqi governorates have rushed to restore commercial exchange with neighboring countries because of the economic crisis, which led to a significant increase in the number of Covid-19 infections," calling for "postponement of commercial activity with countries witnessing the second wave to control the spread of the virus or put strict health controls on it".
Ismail pointed out that "the organization is very concerned about the increasing numbers of casualties recorded daily in Baghdad and the governorates as a result of not implementing the safety and prevention measures properly and questioning the absence of this epidemic," stressing "the need to strictly enforce the curfew in terms of security and health, not just security in the sense of adhering to preventive instructions that the organization and the Ministry of Health published it in the media, completely isolating the areas that recorded high infections, and not tolerating the implementation of these measures and preventing the disease from being transmitted from one region to another.
He continued, "the increasing number of infections puts us in front of a problem represented by the inability of the existing clinical capacity to accommodate the numbers of the infected, which could lead to a real terror."
During the past few days, the country has witnessed a continuous increase in the number of coronavirus infections, which yesterday reached 1252 cases. / End
