Istanbul /NINA/- Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a prominent leader in the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in a security operation carried out in northern Iraq.
Turkish intelligence stated in a media circular today, Thursday, that the leader of the organization /Serhat Tagar/ was neutralized in an operation carried out by a group affiliated with Turkish intelligence in the Kara region, northern Iraq.
The Turkish intelligence indicated in its circular that Tagar, who bears the nom de guerre /Marwan Hayzan/ joined the "PKK/KGK" organization in 2014, and was active in the Zap region in northern Iraq between 2017 and 2019.
It indicated that the leader Tagar was responsible for transporting weapons, ammunition and explosive materials used by the PKK in its terrorist operations, and he also worked as a bodyguard for senior figures in the organization's leadership.
It is noteworthy that Turkey organizes operations against the "PKK" organization, which targets its forces and citizens, and is active in several countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq and Iran./End
