Turkish intelligence stated in a media circular today that the leader of the PKK organization called Yunus Demir, nicknamed Şivan Gür, who is listed on the red list of those wanted by the Turkish judiciary, was assigned by the organization’s senior leadership to lead military operations against the Turkish forces in charge of “ claw lock” operations in northern Iraq.
Turkish intelligence indicated in its media circular that Demir was supervising the training of armed groups to carry out attacks on the Turkish armed forces in the Claw Lock operations area and that he was responsible for planning and managing the armed actions that were carried out against the Turkish forces in northern Iraq.
Turkish intelligence indicated that it was following the movements and activities of Demir and the people associated with him, as he was spotted in Gara region in northern Iraq and was able to kill him and a group of Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants associated with him in that region.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish army had carried out a large military operation on April 18, 2021, and it is still continuing, called the Claw Lock , against the strongholds of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in the areas of Matina, Hakurk, Al-Zab, Afshin, and Bazian in northern Iraq./End
