BAGHDAD / NINA /- The spokesman for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, Brigadier General Yahiya Rasool on Thursday announced that security forces achieved several goals in the sixth stage of the operations of the "will of victory" and the destruction of the remnants of the "Daesh" terrorist, north and west of the country.

Rasool said in a press statement: "The operation aims to search and clear an area of 8,500 square kilometers, which are desert areas, plains and valleys, between the provinces of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Anbar."

"The operation involves the operations of Salah al-Din, Anbar, Al-Jazeera, the advanced headquarters in Kirkuk, the joint operations command, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Federal Police and the emergency contingent, and has achieved a number of objectives," he added.

He pointed out that the operations are still continuing, and is considered to be complementary to the five stages, waged by Iraqi forces.

"The coming days, after the will of victory - the sixth stage, will see other operations targeting the remnants of ISIS gangs, and we continue to eradicate the remnants of these terrorist gangs."

The spokesperson for the Joint Operations Command said the operation was supported by the coalition, but relied more heavily on military aviation, the Iraqi air force, and at times, for specific purposes, the coalition aircraft could be used, according to Iraqi intelligence.
