In Babylon, riot police of the Babylon Police Command fired tear gas at demonstrators who tried to storm the provincial council Wednesday night.
"A number of demonstrators tried to break into the provincial council building," a police source said, adding that “police dispersed them with tear gas without causing any injuries.”
In Baghdad, the protesters began to gather this evening in the vicinity of Al-Khalani Square after they withdrew from Al-Tayaran Square just as other demonstrations started in different areas of the capital.
In Diyala governorate, Diyala Police Command announced the withdrawal of Baquba demonstrators from the provincial council.
Colonel Nihad Mohammed, a spokesman for Diyala police command, told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) correspondent that the demonstrators started to withdraw from the Diyala provincial council headquarters in the center of Baquba, two hours after the peaceful demonstration.
He added that the security services started to open roads that were closed for security reasons and that the movement of vehicles returned to normal./ End
