BAGHDAD / NINA / A leader of the Kurdistan Alliance, Adel Berwari, said that the Kurdistan region has the right to arm its forces to defend its borders against any external threats, criticizing what he described as "dual- decision by which the central government deals with the question of arming the Peshmerga."
He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: "The dispute between the KR and the central government on the issue of arming the Peshmerga forces comes as a second issue after the dispute over oil and gas law, as it was scheduled several years ago, to form two mountain divisions in Kurdistan, every division consist of 17500 fighters in each , provided with required weapons according to what they need, with the pay from the government, but unfortunately , until this day, question of arming the Peshmerga has become problem as well as the oil and gas law, as both problems have not resolved since several years, and talks are still going so far without any result. " He added: "It is unfortunate , there is a dual- decision and clear bias by the central government against the issue of arming the Peshmerga." indicating that" these differences will not end only by confidence between the political parties."/END
