Baghdad/ NINA /--The general meteorological authority and Seismology announced monitoring of earthquakes and several aftershocks in the provinces of Nineveh and Dohuk northern Iraq .
A statement by the general authority explained that the earthquake occurred today (101) kilometers northwest of Mosul near the Syrian -Turkish-Iraqi borders, with magnitude of 4.8 on Richter scale at 8:53 local time pointing out that it felt by Mosul inhabitants , without giving details about damage or casualties .
The source added that a series of aftershocks recorded in the same area, 60 km from Dohuk with magnitude ranged between 4.5 to 4.7 on Richter scale noting that these series are felt by Dohuk inhabitants at 9.00 am and 9.49 am". / End
